Encroaching humans have driven cheetahs out of 91 percent of their historical range in Africa. The best estimates suggest they’ve lost about half their population since 1975.This might sound like an insurmountable challenge, but it’s not. With enough resources and the will to act, we can save cheetahs and other threatened species. One of the many ways the National Geographic Society is working to protect wildlife is through our Big Cats Initiative, which has funded more than 100 successful big cat conservation projects in Africa and around the world.
These projects can save more lives and make lasting change—with your support. Make a tax-deductible gift to the National Geographic Society today to help save cheetahs and other threatened wildlife.
